HMC Maintenance has an outstanding opportunity for a full time day shift GARDENER 2. The individual in this role will perform skilled work in the maintenance of institution grounds and landscapes of Harborview facilities.
A summary of the Gardener 2 responsibilities:
• Prepare soil for planting; plant seeds, sod, turf, bulbs, plants, trees, and shrubs.
• Clean, service and maintain tools and equipment, including power equipment.
• Seed, mow, irrigate, sweep, fertilize, top dress, edge, aerate, and maintain lawns.
• Install, repair, operate lawn sprinkler systems
• Transplant seedlings, trees, shrubs, and other nursery stock.
• Rake and remove leaves,
• Pull, hoe, and control weeds.
• Prune, spray, and fertilize trees, shrubs and ground cover.
• Remove debris, leaves, brush snow and ice from areas such as walks, stairs, ramps, and parking facilities; apply ice melter, sand and gravel
• Install and maintain campus fences, rockeries, etc.
• Use a variety of manual tools and equipment, such as rakes, pruning shears, hand edgers, loppers, shovels, wheelbarrows, and pesticide sprayers
• May operate and perform maintenance on power and motorized equipment such as weed trimmers, chain saws, backpack blowers, rototillers, light tractors, front end loaders, small trucks, lawn mowers, sweepers, aerators, sod cutters, pressure washers and snow blowers.
• Apply pesticides and herbicides to greenery and plant material.
• Assist in estimates of cost and provide feedback to improve estimating and costing processes.
• Read and interpret blueprints for projects.
• Drive Engineering service truck as required, also, load and unload materials and supplies.
• Maintain inventory of replacement parts and tools.
• May direct work of others.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Physical ability to do required work AND one year of experience or training involving grounds maintenance, plant care, cultivation and landscape installation
OR
equivalent education/experience.
