The Global Innovation Exchange (GIX) is a global partnership between major research universities and corporations to develop leaders in innovation. It develops leaders, stimulates innovation in the workforce, and helps solve technical, business, design, and societal challenges. Our goal is to build the global talent that will tackle complex world challenges and address multiple markets. GIX has an exceptional full time opportunity for a Career Development Specialist to support the career development of executive and lifelong learners as well as graduates of the MS in Technology Innovation (MSTI) Program.The Career Development Specialist works closely with the Director of the Executive and Lifelong Learning Program to develop and manage training programs geared towards executives, managers, and leaders across various sectors who are interested in emerging technologies, principles of innovation, and practices informed by scholarship and a global approach. The Program Manager also works with the Director of Academic Programs to provide mentorship and professional development services to MSTI students and recent graduates. As both of these programs grow, it is anticipated that this role will evolve and there will be opportunities for advancement and new responsibilities and/or roles. RESPONSIBILITIES:Executive Education & Lifelong Learning Program ManagementUnder direction of the Executive and Lifelong Learning Director:Develop surveys and methods of collecting statistics to assess program demand, effectiveness, and relevance.Prepare recruitments plans to connect programs to prospective students in professional communities and industries. Review program to improve quality, expand access, and continually respond to market demand.Prepare instructional materials and presentations for publication and distribution, ensuring consistency of style, design, accessibility, and learner-centered focus.Manage ELL correspondence and respond to constituent inquiries and requests.Develop content for and help update relevant portions of the web site and intranet. Work with GIX marketing team and contracted service providers to create promotional materials and products and ensure alignment with GIX brand.Coordinate with Director of Operations and department staff to facilitate instructor appointments, payment, visas, etc. Communicate with instructors and assist with recruitment, hiring and onboarding as needed.Manage budget and expenses; ensure the timely processing of payments.Oversee design and execution of events, trainings, workshops, and information sessions with keen attention to detail. Develop meeting materials, event logistics (reserving rooms, arranging food or catering, coordinating equipment, signage, and A/V support, and clean-up). Plan advisory board meetings as applicable.Actively network and participate in professional communities of practice and relevant areas to build relationships that contribute to overall program growth and enrollment.Other duties as assigned.Professional Development ServicesUnder direction of the Director of Academic Programs, develop and implement programs, activities, counseling, and advising focused on students' career development.Develop relationships with hiring managers, connect with recruiters, and host hiring and professional development and workshops.Counsel students and alumni on career options and opportunities, including customized services for specific populations. Search and deliver new job opportunities and employers.Help students and alumni identify their interests, values, skills, and personalities, and understand how these factors relate to academic/career satisfaction and choices. Use standard quantitative and qualitative assessments to help them assess career goals.Meet with students for individual and small group advising to discuss and coach them on their resumes, cover letters, applications and/or interviews.Research, evaluate, and update written and electronic career and educational resources.Research and organize economic and employment trend data, and design materials for presentation to students and campus professionals.Develop, conduct, and/or arranges workshops to cultivate and improve students' skills.Work with marketing and recruiting team to promote the program, the students and the alumni.Maintain excellent professional relations with the recruiters and continuously nurture relationships in relevant industries. Create, maintain and enhance relationships with corporations and other organizations to develop and modify existing and potential employer resources, and promote GIX programs.Attend seminars/conferences to network and enhance the relations with the potential employers.Academic Programs SupportProvide program support for GIX academic programs:Develop an optional internship program to help identify and place students in internships.Working closely with Consortium Manager and Academic Programs Director, coordinate student participation, meeting materials, and event logistics (reserving rooms, arranging food or catering, coordinating equipment, signage, and A/V support, and clean-up) for Consortium events. Anticipate issues and needs to ensure successful execution of events, active participation of students, and cultivation of important GIX industry partners.With input from Consortium Manager and Academic Programs Director, manage mentor program and serve as the primary point of contact. Manage all details related to the program, including correspondence with mentors, pairing of students and mentors, and program events. Coordinate with Consortium Manager on engagement with high profile mentors. Respond to inquiries about the mentoring process.Coordinate student participation in interviews, meeting, and activities organized by Advancement and Marketing staff, with input from Academic Programs Director and Academic Advisor.Develop content for and help update relevant portions of the web site and intranet.Manage special projects related to academic programs.Other duties as assigned.REQUIREMENTS:Master’s degree in business, social sciences or related field.Minimum of two years of experience in academic career services or corporate recruitment or corporate training.Proven administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.Flexibility and ability to prioritize concurrent projects under pressure of deadlines with consistent accuracy and attention detail.Basic computer knowledge and proficiency with MS Office, electronic calendaring systems.Excellent oral and written communication skills, used in situations requiring conflict management and an awareness of cultural differences; demonstrated experience and ability to communicate effectively, including empathetic listening, presentations and public speaking.Commitment to diversity and experience working with individuals from different cultural, ethnic, geographic, and experiential backgrounds.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.DESIRED:Advanced knowledge of career development theories, adult development theory, counseling process, career decision making, learning styles, and job search techniques.Knowledge of needs assessment theory, processes, and practice, workshop and program design.Knowledge of UW programs, career services, employer, alumni, and faculty needs and expectations, recruiting and staffing methods, and employment trends.Experience with content management systems (e.g., WordPress) and ability to learn new software tools and interest in learning.CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:Application Process:The application process for UW positions may include completion of a variety of online assessments to obtain additional information that will be used in the evaluation process.
