HMC Quality Improvement has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Safety Net (PSN) Clinical Manager. This will be full-time position, and part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the review, tracking and analysis of adverse event reports. They will work with QI and the Patient Safety Program. The PSN Clinical Manager will provide analysis trends, develop reports and present findings at various organization forums. In addition, this position will participate in other QI activities involving data analysis, special projects and presentations of information and reports.
The PSN Clinical Manager will manage the adverse event (AE) reporting system for patient events at Harborview Medical Center. This position will report to Patient Safety Officer and the Director of Quality Improvement. The PSN reporting system is a fundamental element of the Harborview Patient Safety Program allowing front line providers to alert the patient safety, quality, risk management, and administrative and medical leadership of possible harm or risk of harm to patients. This position will review AE reports in an ongoing fashion, identifying immediate and potential safety concerns. This position will participate in event reviews using Just Culture principles with operational and faculty leaders with a focus on system improvement. This position will have close interactions with Risk Management, multiple operational teams and physician leaders, service excellence, patient safety, and organizational integration, the PSN Clinical Manager will provide leadership and resources that promotes the following:
•A non-punitive AE reporting environment for all staff and faculty members
•Evaluation, analysis and trending of adverse events throughout the organization
•Integration of AE data into operational projects
Requirements:
•Registered Nurse with four (4) years of recent clinical experience in a hospital setting, to include one year in a leadership role. Critical care and ICU experience is preferred.
•Experience in clinical assessing cases for information important to quality review.
•Requires the ability to effectively work collaboratively and communicate verbally and in writing with both individuals and with teams of staff and faculty in a sensitive and constructive manner.
•Requires the ability to work with information in a confidential manner.
•Requires the ability to collect and analyze quality data.
•Requires the ability to assess PSN events for impact and work collaboratively with multiple departments in assessing events and identifying opportunities for improvement.
•Requires the ability to view current systems and identify areas for operational change, facilitate data for collaboratively implementing change and tracking outcomes of change.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
Desired:
Ability to navigate Cerner and EPIC Medical Records. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to work with Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint. Certification or similar level of experience with Just Culture
