Position Purpose:
The Harborview Injury Prevention and Research Center (HIPRC) is a worldwide leader in injury cause and prevention research. Founded in 1985, HIPRC is a multidisciplinary research center supported by the University of Washington School of Medicine and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. HIPRC faculty and staff are devoted to conducting research, education, and community outreach aimed at diminishing the personal impact of trauma, and broadening the effectiveness of injury prevention and treatment programs regionally and nationally.
This part-time (50% FTE) position will manage qualitative and quantitative data analysis needs for research studies at HIPRC. This position will work directly with faculty investigators, post-doctoral fellows and scientific collaborators to achieve the research study aims. This position provides high- level professional research and advanced data analysis support under the direct supervision of the program manager with a strongly matrixed relationship to the associate director of research methods.

This position reports to program manager with a strong matrix relationship to the associate director of research methods. The position works under limited supervision and must demonstrate an ability to work independently with sound judgment. Must also be an excellent collaborator be able to work effectively as a member of a team under technical guidance of supervisor. The successful Research Consultant (RC) requires advanced qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills to support injury control research at HIPRC. The RC must have sophisticated writing skills to be able to communicate clearly and effectively with faculty and fellows from different disciplines and from different training backgrounds both in person and via email.

HIPRC is jointly supported by the UW School of Medicine and Harborview Medical Center. HIPRC’s multi-disciplinary membership includes faculty members from the UW Schools of Medicine, Public Health, Social Work, Nursing, Engineering, Pharmacy, and Law. Research priorities include:
The RC role contributes to the overall success of research projects at HIPRC, with the potential to lead to future grant opportunities benefiting both HIPRC and UW.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviewing, analyzing and conducting advanced qualitative and quantitative data analysis for research projects = 60%
Provide methodologic expertise on study design and data collection for research grant proposals and other research projects = 30%
Provide quality control on data collection methods, implementation = 10%
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, education, health sciences, statistical analysis or related field
Type and Years of Experience: 2 years’ experience in study design, research data management and data analysis
