HMC RADIOLOGY has an outstanding opportunity for a full time day shift IMAGING TECHNOLOGIST - LEAD. The Imaging Technologist - Lead reports to department Imaging Supervisor and/or Manager. Regularly assigns, instructs, and checks the work of employees. Routinely works as a technologist. Mentors new staff, develops and presents in-services, creates daily schedules, and coordinates flow of patients.
Standards of Daily Practice:
Regularly assigns, instructs, and checks the work of employees.
Is able to operate the following equipment/systems: PACS, the Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System. Able to print and retrieve images. Can implement down time procedures as needed. Operates all workstations pertaining to sub-specialty area (i.e. CR equipment, CT workstations, MRI workstations, Supply scan, etc).
Performs duties of an Imaging Technologist, CT, MRI, Angiography Technologist (depending on which modality).
Functions as a preceptor. Orients new employees according to department's standards.
Serves as information resource for staff. Routinely answers patient care, equipment and technical questions including the PACS. Assists in problem solving. Provides clinical leadership. Assures appropriate, effective utilization of IDXrad system.
Develops and presents in-services in coordination with Imaging Supervisors and Directors of Imaging.
Implements daily staff schedules and holiday coverage to ensure adequate level of staffing in area of responsibility.
Reviews and reports daily operational status of equipment; initiates repair service calls and documents malfunctions.
Coordinates flow of patients within specialty area. Assigns patient procedures to staff.
Assures appropriate utilization of Radiation Protection prescribed by safety standards is utilized.
Assists supervisor in evaluating employees’ competency and provides input to the supervisor for yearly evaluations.
Monitors supplies and places orders to replenish supplies.
In supervisor's absence (or when requested), may be assigned charge operational, technical, and clinical responsibilities.
May be required to work on-call.
This position involves working with patients from the following age groups:
• Neonate, 1-28 days • Pre-teen to teen, 10-16 years
• Infant, 29 days - 1 year • Adult, 15-65 years
• Toddler, 2-4 years • Geriatric, 65 years and above
• Child , 5-9 years
May participate in the interview process for new employees.

3. Demonstrates awareness of and functions within safety, infection control, emergency and equipment
guidelines.
4. Meets attendance standards and consistently completes timesheet requirements.
5. Ensures all relevant credentials are current.
6. Ensures mandatory certification competencies are completed within initial time frame.
7. Consistently wears identification badge as per hospital policy.
8. Consistently wears dosimeter and returns monthly to the QA coordinator for monitoring.
9. Is responsible for remaining current with information disseminated through email, voice mail, memos and posted notices.

2. Provides the appropriate education to patient and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure.
3. Exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care.
4. Provides radiation protection prescribed by safety standards for patients, self, and other hospital personnel.
5. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights, and is familiar with all relevant HIPAA standards. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.

1. Proven interpersonal and communication skills required to promote positive relationships with patients, visitors, radiologists, and other medical center personnel.

1. Understands and complies with all safety, fire, disaster, evacuation, and chemical safety procedure: reviews departmental policy and procedure manual annually
2. Understands that they are considered “essential personnel” during emergencies and inclement weather.

1. Reviews and QC own work and the work of students.
2. Participates in and supports quality assessment and improvement activities.
3. Participates in the Department QA and QC functions by assisting in the collection of data, and making recommendations as to problems and possible solutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Satisfactory completion of formal radiologic technology training program in an AMA approved school; registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) And one year of experience in applicable modality OR A minimum of 6 months of technical experience in the applicable modality AND previous leadership experience
OR
equivalent education/experience.
