Harborview Inpatient Pharmacy has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME LEAD PHARMACY TECHNICIAN – INPATIENT PHARMACY OPERATIONS (Day Shifts). The Lead Pharmacy Technician regularly assigns and coordinates the technical and distributive functions in the Inpatient Pharmacy, and directs pharmacy technicians and others in daily operations of the pharmacy. This position will also schedule pharmacy technicians, assist in training of new pharmacy technicians, develop and implement procedures and other pharmacy wide programs, and perform technical and distributive pharmacy technician duties.
Responsibilities:
Management:
• Direct the work of interns, students, and pharmacy technicians in the Inpatient Pharmacy.
• Direct the workflow of the pharmacy to ensure timely medication delivery.
• Coordinate and conduct the instruction and training of pharmacy technicians regarding technical and distributive functions in the Inpatient Pharmacy.
• Participate in development, implementation, evaluation and monitoring of quality assurance and process improvement programs.
• Participate in development, implementation and evaluation of departmental policies.
• Assure that policies and procedures are followed in coordination with the Technician Manager.
• Assure compliance with all pharmacy laws and regulations in coordination with the Technician Manager.
Personnel:
• Prepare schedule for Inpatient Pharmacy technician staff, with oversight by the Technician Manager.
• Assist the Technician Manager in maintaining accurate records of hours worked, sick leave, and vacation requests for the Inpatient Pharmacy Staff.
• Assure pharmacy technician staff development, new employee orientation and training in coordination with the Technician Manager.
• Provide input to the Technician Manager for periodic peer review and evaluation.
• Coordinate assignments, training and evaluation for students.
Other:
• Perform the duties of a Pharmacy Technician I and II.
• Maintain effective communications with Inpatient Pharmacy staff, the administrative staff of the Department of Pharmacy, and other departments in the Medical Center.
• Off-line time is allowed for completion of the above tasks, subject to revision as workload demands change.
• Perform related duties as required.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT: State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.
