UW-IT is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing technology solutions to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation, and discovery at the UW. UW-IT is currently looking for a COBOL Mainframe Developer who will support the UW-IT work on Finance Transformation, the University’s large-scale project to modernize its finance operations, business systems and processes. The position is a role in the newly established UW-IT FT program (ITF).
The Mainframe Developer will contribute to UW-ITF by developing, implementing, and supporting major information systems impacted by Finance Transformation. This involves development and maintenance of University specific software. The incumbent will work in a diverse, mission-critical suite of application software of varying ages and technologies including the Unisys mainframe computing environment comprising of batch programs and online modules coded in Cobol 85. We are seeking an individual who can collaborate on complex projects and can quickly climb the learning curve to understand and support custom UW Cobol applications. The Mainframe Developer will partner directly with UW-IT, FT stakeholders, and campus users to ensure the success of this implementation.
REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

Work in an open office environment. This position involves responsibilities and occasional situations where work outside of standard business hours is required to respond to incidents or to meet critical deadlines.
This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.
This position is eligible for flexible remote work.
