The Online Executive Master of Public Health (MPH) program in the Department of Health Services has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Marketing and Student Recruitment Specialist to support student recruitment and marketing with an emphasis on expanding student enrollment. This position supports the annual planning processes for student recruitment and marketing, corresponds and meets with prospective applicants, organizes special events in support of recruitment, and represents the program at recruitment events.
This position reports to the Marketing and Student Recruitment Manager. This position will also work closely and collaborate with the Online Executive MPH Program Director and Associate Program Director, the Program Manager and staff team, the Department Chair’s office, the School of Public Health communications team, and the marketing team of UW Continuum College (UWC2).
Targeted student recruitment is crucial as our Online Executive MPH program capacity is increasing significantly. It is expected that this position will be a vital contributor to positioning our program within the ever-expanding online degree environment, and in strengthening our national and international standing and reputation.
The Department of Health Services is housed in the School of Public Health, and is a dynamic academic and research department with the mission of working with partners in public health and health care to prepare leaders, design solutions, and conduct innovative research that is translated into practice and policy. The Department is steadfast in its efforts to improve and promote the health of all populations, and staff contribute daily and directly to the work of faculty, students, researchers and other staff, providing support and expertise to the Department's common cause.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Student Recruitment
•Seek out new venues for reaching potential students and develop relationships with key stakeholders
•Develop and strengthen existing relationships and pipelines
•Develop and manage annual recruitment plan to promote the program locally, regionally and nationally
•Respond to inquiries, enter and track data, and report on conversions
•Collaborate with teams and programs across campus in support of recruitment and retention
•Plan and staff student recruitment activities
•Represent program at public events, career fairs, recruiting events, conferences
•Coordinate individual and group visits from prospective students
•Energize and help coordinate faculty, alumni and student involvement in recruitment efforts (internal and external)
•Support other department staff in conducting activities at both on-campus (including annual prospective student visit days) and off-site locations
Marketing / Program Promotion
•Draft and maintain content for program website; work with Health Services marketing staff to maximize the potential for program website as a marketing tool
•Create and update promotional materials – presentations/webinars, displays, flyers, phone scripts, etc.
•Promote the program via news stories and photos on social media; collaborate with department and SPH colleagues regarding best practices
•Meet proactively with faculty and staff to obtain information and leads on content creation, prioritizing communications of student projects, awards and presentations; generate student testimonials and profiles
•Generate and help elevate content for placement in publications to external audiences, such as the American Public Health Association, newsletters of local health care organizations, etc.
•Ensure appropriate use of UW branding, SPH logo, and communications and style guides
•Represent program at monthly School of Public Health Communications Forum and Student Services Staff meetings
•Build relationships and act as liaison with health care and public health professional associations and organizations locally, regionally and nationally, as well as other relevant units on campus
Other
•Conduct annual alumni update survey and maintain up-to-date database of alumni contact and employment information
•Participate in planning and staffing of alumni events and relations
•Participate in annual tracking and reporting of program statistics, trend information, etc., for student recruitment, admissions, and other public relations and program needs
•Coordinate and/or support staffing of other program/department/school-wide student events, as appropriate
•Maintain photo-management system, maintaining organized photo files and log, media release forms, etc.'
•Other related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor's Degree in communications, marketing, business, English, education, or related field
•Two years of experience in student recruitment and/or program promotion and communications, with an eye towards building diversity
•Demonstrated knowledge of the importance of and commitment to increasing the number of diverse student applicants, with emphasis on underrepresented minorities
•Experience implementing marketing and/or communications strategies, plans and materials
•Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects
•Strong interpersonal communication and collaboration skills, with an ability to work professionally, productively, and collegially with a broad range of individuals, from prospective and current students to faculty, leaders on campus, and professionals in the public health practice and health services research fields
•Excellent writing and editing skills
•Strong public presentation skills
•Strong eye for detail and high standards of accuracy
•Proficiency with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, using an Access database)
•Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite
•Proficiency with basic photo editing and graphic design
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Desired Qualifications:
•Experience working with online degrees, preferably within a marketing, student recruitment and/or student services capacity
•Experience supporting social media efforts
•Experience with web-based conferencing/meeting technologies
Environmental Conditions:
This position requires off-site travel, including regular overnight and out-of-state travel, to recruitment events. This position must be able to work flexible hours as necessary due to work demands.
