University of Washington Medical Center's 7S Translational Research Unit (TRU) has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-Time MEDICAL ASSISTANT.
Under general supervision, the MEDICAL ASSISTANT (MA) will assist the nursing staff by performing delegated tasks that involve direct patient care; technical procedures or monitoring that may be invasive and require skills validations; transportation of supplies and specimens; ordering and stocking of supplies; and maintenance of special equipment, including sterile equipment and set-ups. The MA role may include coordinating the clerical activities and supporting the front desk activities for patient care in the clinic. The MA may participate in clinic and selected divisional activities to promote effective problem solving and communication. Supervision for tasks performed under a Medical Assistant’s Health Care Assistant Certification is the responsibility of the TRU Clinical Medical Director or designee. TRU RNs provide direct supervision of services performed by the MAs.
The successful candidate will perform the highest level of patient care possible. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to care for our patients and support our team in the following areas:

equivalent education/experience.
Legal Requirement
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Valid BLS/CPR Card
DESIRED:
Current Certification as a Medical Assistant by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
Medical Assistant or medical office experience
Current Medical Assistant experience in Pediatrics, Urgent Care experience and/or Medical screening and immunization
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Advanced knowledge of pediatric immunization schedules and the ability to safely administer injections.
Knowledge of software applications, and proficiency us MS Office (Outlook, Word, etc.), and ability to learn/use EPIC and other software programs.
Advanced phlebotomy skills.
Intermediate keyboarding skills – 30+ wpm.
Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective written communication skills.
Effective decision-making skills.
Able to maintain productive work relationships with staff and patients/families.
Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Able to work effectively in stressful situations.
