The Department of Radiology currently has an outstanding opportunity for a MEDICAL PHYSICS ASSISTANT.
The Medical Physics Assistant (MPA) contributes to the growth and success of the Department by executing the mission and vision. The MPA will receive direction from the Diagnostic Medical Physicists in the Diagnostic Physics Section in the Department of Radiology and will work closely with the physicists, clinical engineering, technologist supervisors and equipment vendors. This position also frequently interacts with other Departments and sites.
The MPA will be trained on all aspects of this position by the medical physicists. Once trained, the MPA will have the primary responsibility to participate in quality control performance testing, provide technical and user support for imaging systems/software/ancillary equipment, complete quality assurance reports, maintain a quality control testing schedule, and monitor ongoing technologist QC activities. The MPA will not perform clinical patient scans but will instead serve as a medical physicist assistant. The MPA will work closely with the medical physicists to assist with all technical and user aspects of medical imaging. This includes optimizing medical images, evaluating imaging protocols, and maintaining information databases. The MPA will participate in professional, educational, and research initiatives and the technical aspects of safety, regulatory compliance and accreditation.
