Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunities for a 60% Part-Time, Day Shift, MENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONERS (EMPLOYMENT SPECIALIST).
SUMMARY
HMHAS serves a widely diverse population of clients, all of whom have clear and persistent mental illness. The goals of the program are to promote community stability by securing housing, benefits and culturally relevant treatment to meet their needs, and to assist clients in developing meaningful and productive life roles. An Employment Specialist/Mental Health Practitioner will be expected to be able to work with a wide variety of clients and be sensitive to the culture, religion, language, age, gender and sexual orientation of those we serve. The Vocational Specialist will focus on assisting clients choose, get, and keep jobs while working with the rest of the treatment team to minimize the effects of symptoms of mental illness. Their primary focus will be to develop community based jobs for clients and all the preparation and supportive services associated with this activity.
VOCATIONAL CASE MANAGEMENT
Maintains a caseload, size to be determined by team.
Provides employment and advocacy services.
Assists clients in identifying employment strengths and ways of overcoming barriers.
Works with potential employers, current employers and co-workers of clients.
Works with clients’ families and social networks.
Works with the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other allied agencies.
Assesses employment challenges and determine interventions.
Consults with case managers and medical staff regarding effects of vocational activities and treatment.
GROUP
Leads or co-leads groups.
Develops groups relevant to the vocational needs of clients.
Maintains group size to be financially and clinically viable.
TEAM MEMBER
Attends relevant meetings.
Becomes knowledgeable about team clients.
Provides coverage for other team members.
Represents the needs and concerns of the team at relevant meetings.
Meets productivity standards as developed by team.
Assists other teams and programs as needed.
DOCUMENTATION
Maintains clinical and billing records.
Submits daily billing logs to Data Systems.
Charts client contact in the medical record.
Develops referral information for DVR, negotiate plans and produce timely reports.
Develops and implements vocational plans, based on clients’ situations.
Prepares information requested by outside agencies such as DSHS, Social Security Administration, and others.
Updates Financial Counselor of changes in patients’ financial status.
Collects data for evaluation and research.
TEACHING
Assists in training residents, nursing and social work students.
Assists in orientation of new staff.
Explains procedures to new staff, students and residents.
Allows new staff and trainees to observe treatment procedures.
TRAINING
Participates in training as needed.
Provides training at agency inservices, conferences, and other events as needed.
COMMUNICATION
Is accessible to team members.
Informs front desk of schedule and availability.
Responds to email and voice mail daily.
Shares areas of expertise with program via consultations, team and staff meetings, and presentations.
MISCELLANEOUS
Attends weekly staff meetings
Attends weekly team meetings
Attends supervisory meetings
Serves on committees as assigned or volunteered for
Performs other duties as assigned
