UW Information Technology (UW-IT) is the central IT organization for the University of Washington. UW-IT provides strategic planning, oversight, and direction for UW’s extensive IT infrastructure, resources, and services. UW-IT partners with the UW community to enable innovation, learning, discovery, and service.
IT Infrastructure (ITI), a division within UW-IT, provides the ubiquitous technology infrastructure required to sustain UW as a leading research, teaching, learning, and medical institution. These technologies support the UW’s core mission at all levels – research, teaching, learning, healthcare, and all the necessary underlying administrative and operational functions required for successful operations. ITI provides infrastructure in support of all three UW campuses (Seattle, Bothell, and Tacoma), UW Medicine (medical centers and clinics), the state K-20 Education Network (300+ school districts), and the Pacific Northwest Gigapop (research & education networks throughout the PNW and Pacific Rim). ITI designs, builds, and operates technology infrastructure services inclusive of networks, computing & storage solutions, data centers, telecommunications services, identity & access management, as well as the infrastructure tools required to integrate and report on these services.
UW-IT has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Microsoft Service Manager and Engineer.
This position is responsible for managing the University's Managed Workstation (MWS) services and for being a Microsoft system engineer.
This position utilizes a combination of specialized knowledge of Microsoft technologies, service management, and administration methods to carry out its responsibilities. Service management responsibilities include: make decisions for staff and service prioritization; direct resources on service needs; devise and execute project and service improvement plans; communicate service status and issues to stakeholders, team members, and leadership; and establish practices, methods, procedures, policies, and work rules for the services. System engineer responsibilities include: manage Microsoft technology solutions; fulfill customer requests; contribute to design of new solutions based on customer needs and the complex UW ecosystem; and identify and analyze emerging Microsoft technologies for fit at the UW.
REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

This professional position requires the employee to fulfill the duties of the job. This may entail occasional situations where work outside of standard work days is required to meet deadlines or respond to emergency situations. Work in open office environment. Occasionally travel to attend conferences.
This is an essential position and is required to report to work remotely when UW suspends operations.
