UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a DAY SHIFT, PART TIME/TEMPORARY, MRI TECHNOLOGIST. Under the direction of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI examinations) accurately, independently, and efficiently.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares patient and independently performs MRI exams and procedures
Informs patients of exam procedure, transfers and positions patient safely and properly for examination, and observes and monitors patient’s condition and reactions to exam
Produces technically acceptable MRI exams, selects proper technical factors, and reviews and evaluates MRI images to determine that they are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes
Performs quality assurance checks on equipment and processes per department policies and investigates and informs supervisor of any quality issues or problems
Completes required paperwork and records, accurately inputs exam orders, patient data, patient charges, and prepares reports
Continually evaluates patient flow and work assignments, makes necessary adjustments, and prioritizes work effectively.
Answers phones, may assist in other areas such as: order entry, image library, scheduling, and patient transport
Maintains the patient environment by setting up exam rooms and ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are ready, cleans and tidies exam rooms, wait rooms, and checks restroom cleanliness
Assists with training and mentoring new personnel and students, prepares and presents in-service education programs if assigned, and participates in departmental goals and performance improvement projects
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Satisfactory completion of formal specific training in an AMA-approved Radiology Technology program
Satisfactory completion of a formal cross sectional anatomy class and a formal MRI instrumentation class (must complete classes within 2 years of hire)
Requires certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) (R)
OR
Board eligible graduate from an accredited institution. Certification required within 3 months of hire
Advanced Registry in the modality within 12 months of hire date
Requires licensure with the State of Washington as a Radiologic Technologist within 3 months of hire
Requires CPR or BLS, must obtain within 90 days of hire
Requires 24 CME credits every two years
DESIRED:
Minimum of 1 year radiology experience, preferably in an acute care hospital environment
Prior MRI experience
