HMC NUCLEAR MEDICINE has an outstanding opportunity for a part time temporary/hourly NUCLEAR MEDICINE TECHNOLOGIST 2. The person in this role will report to the department supervisor and receive general direction from the supervisor and assigned Nuclear Medicine Lead. This individual will perform complex clinical diagnostic examinations such as lymphoscintography, treadmill cardiac perfusion, and pharmacologic stress cardiac perfusion, and provide expertise to support nuclear medicine clinical services. Tailors examinations to individual patient in collaboration with physician. Under general direction, exercise advanced technical knowledge in a specific area of expertise such as clinical computer application or examination protocol development in the field of nuclear medicine, and provide work direction to others in area of expertise.
Standard Daily Practice:
Perform complex clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine examinations;
Develop new computer applications in nuclear medicine;
Develop guidelines for the use and control of radiopharmaceuticals; develop standards for calibration and dispensing of radiopharmaceuticals;
Develop new nuclear medicine examinations; establish written protocols;
Conduct specialized tests and studies in vitro and/or in vivo;
Identify supply needs for new procedures; locate vendors for specialized supplies;
Present in-services regarding an area of nuclear medicine;
Design, implement and write procedures for nuclear medicine examinations; train nuclear medicine technologists in new procedures;
Perform the duties of Nuclear Medicine Technologist I;
This position involves working with patients from the following age groups: Neonate = 1-28 days, Pre-teen to teen = 10-16 years, Infant = 29 days-1 year, Adult = 15-65 years, Toddler = 2-4 years, Geriatrics = 65 years and above, Child = 5-9 years.
Assist in evaluating new products and equipment; perform calibration tests, adjust and maintain equipment.
Maintain inventory of supplies to be ordered and submit to lead or supervisor.
May be required to work on-call.

Meets attendance standards and consistently completes timesheet requirements.
Ensures all relevant credentials are current.
Ensures mandatory certification competencies are completed within initial time frame.
Consistently wears identification badge as per hospital policy.
Consistently wears dosimeter and returns monthly to the QA coordinator for monitoring.
Responsible for remaining current with information disseminated through email, voice mail, memos and posted notices.

Provides the appropriate education to patient and their families prior to and post Radiology procedure;
Exercises responsible judgment in recognizing and reporting significant situations relating to patient care.
Provides radiation protection prescribed by safety standards for patients and self.
Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights, and is familiar with all relevant HIPAA standards. Maintains confidentiality of all medical, financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients.
Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.
Communication and Team Building:
Proven interpersonal and communication skills required to promote positive relationships with patients, visitors, radiologists, and other medical center personnel.
Forms productive working relationships with co-workers. Communicates clearly, directly, and on a timely basis.
Is open to direction, asks for assistance when needed, treats staff with respect and dignity.
Maintains a professional manner at work.
Safety/Response to Emergencies:
Understands and complies with all safety, fire, disaster, evacuation, and chemical safety procedure: review's departmental policy and procedure manual annually.
Understands that they are considered “essential personnel” during emergencies and inclement weather.
Quality Assessment and Improvement:
Reviews and QC own work and the work of students.
Participates in and supports quality assessment and improvement activities.
Participates in the Department QA and QC functions by assisting in the collection of data, and making recommendations as to problems and possible solutions.

Demonstrates responsibility for own professional growth through pursuit of work-related experiences and educational opportunities.
Minimum Qualifications:
Certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board or registration by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Nuclear Medicine AND two years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist I OR equivalent education/experience.
