RESPONSIBLE TO: Medical Director or Attending Physician for medical issues. Director of HCSs, Patient Care Services for administrative issues.
SUMMARY: Under general administrative supervision of the Director of ARNPs & PA-Cs (Healthcare Specialists), the ARNP or PA-C (Health Care Specialist) provides clinical expertise to patients and their families, is a resource person for health care providers, and participates in research and teaching programs. Work is performed in the Emergency Department 24 Hour/7 days a week with general independence and decision-making responsibility under the general guidance of the attending physicians, chief resident and department Nurse Manager. Guidelines include general policy procedures and practice guidelines established by the department and Harborview Medical Center, as well as appropriate professional and technical manuals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Nurse Practitioner:
Masters Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
AND
Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
AND
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
OR
Physician Assistant:
Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington with national certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA).
Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions.
