UW Medical Center - Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for an NIGHT SHIFT, PART TIME (0.6 FTE), OPERATING ROOM/OR ASSISTANT. The OR/ED Assistant is responsible for assisting with room turnover, housekeeping duties in the assigned area of the operating room, transportation of patients, and transport of specimens.   

  • Assists in cleaning and preparing surgical suite, assists in establishing par levels for ancillary supplies, checks linen supply and sub-sterile stock regularly and orders as necessary
  • Transports patients, assists with re-positioning and/or transfer of patients, delivers specimens to the appropriate destination, and transports blood products
  • Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of sterile/aseptic technique, infection control plans, preparation and usage of chemicals
  • Minimizes patients’ safety risks by following defined protocols and policies, lifts, positions, and transfers patients, ensures safety of the patient in the environment
  • Assists with emergency management as instructed (drills, emergencies, rapid response, codes, etc.)

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent

  • Certified Nursing Assistant license for the State of Washington preferred
  • Intraoperative experience as an aide or orderly, or hospital  housekeeping experience preferred
