UWM has an exciting opportunity for a PATHOLOGIST'S ASSISTANT located at Northwest Hospital
The purpose of the Pathologist's Assistant position is to ensure our patients receive a correct Anatomic Pathology diagnosis and the best care possible, by performing gross examination of surgical and biopsy specimens to include dictation, dissection, selection, and submission of tissue sections, ensuring appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling, photography, research collections, intraoperative support, FNA support, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues.
Supervise, oversee, and train Pathology residents, fellows, and visiting medical students along with Pathology technicians in the Gross Room and Frozen section area to ensure accuracy, competency, and regulatory compliance.:
Assist in quality management projects and help maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements applicable to anatomic pathology gross and frozen room operations, to include equipment inventory/maintenance and supply ordering. Providing multiple levels of support including education and instruction of trainees directly impacting the quality of students from the school of medicine in regards to Pathology.
Attend applicable meetings and participate in educational programs:

Performance of gross examination of surgical and biopsy specimens to include dictation, dissection, selection, and submission of tissue sections, assuring appropriate specimen accessioning and labeling, photography, research collections, intraoperative support, FNA support, troubleshooting, and resolution of technical issues.
Supervise, oversee, and train residents, fellows, medical students, and technicians in the Gross Room and Frozen section area to ensure accuracy, competency, and regulatory compliance. Includes scheduling and timecard approvals.
REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s Degree in Pathologists’ Assistant. equivalent experience substitute for degree requirement
2 to 3 Years Experience
Current ASCP certified Pathologists' Assistant with a Bachelor’s degree
Desired – Current ASCP certified Pathologists' Assistant, with a Master's degree from a NACCLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant training program, and 2+ years of experience as a Pathologists' Assistant in an academic hospital.
