UWMC Radiology Support Services has an outstanding opportunity for a Patient Services Specialist 1-Trainee or PSS 2 (Full-Time, Day Shifts). This position will coordinate and provide patient support services, answer telephones, receive patients, register patients, schedule appointments, monitor and process incoming requisitions online for radiology exams, and process patient charge documents in a patient care area.
Other responsibilities include:
•Respond to patient’s needs and concerns as appropriate.
•Investigate complaints and work with department lead/supervisor to find solutions.
•Develop and maintain good working relationships within the department, with other departments and all medical staff.
•Ensure that all requisitions are properly completed and notify technologist in appropriate modality when patient arrives to department.
•Confirm patient demographics prior to processing or transferring to correct area.
•Schedule patients and enter information correctly into all necessary computer systems (Imagecast, Epic) and update patient information as needed.
•Refer patients to Pre-Registration if not previously registered or if an update is needed.
•Collect patient demographics and financial information for input into computer system.
The Patient Services Specialist will perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors; maintain a clean, organized, professional work and patient waiting area; and perform other related duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS: Patient Services Specialists are hired as either PSS 1-Trainee or PSS 2, depending on experience and qualifications. The requirements are:
• PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST 1-TRAINEE REQUIREMENTS: High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in a health care setting OR two years of general office experience OR equivalent education/experience.
• PATIENT SERVICES SPECIALIST 2 REQUIREMENTS: High School graduation or equivalent AND one year of experience in a health care setting OR three years of general office or customer services experience OR equivalent education/experience.
