UW Medical Center Pharmacy is seeking a highly motivated FULL-TIME INVESTIGATIONAL PHARMACIST – INVESTIGATIONAL DRUG SERVICE (Day Shifts). The Investigational Pharmacist (Pharmacist 3) provides clinical pharmacy services to investigators in support of investigational drug studies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist in the preparation and review of drug study protocols as needed for the daily implementation of the studies through the IDS.
• Assist or oversee the maintenance of accurate investigational drug records (this includes documentation of ordering and receipt of drug, drug inventory maintenance, packaging or pre-packaging responsibilities).
• Review protocol amendments and updates documentation and processes as required.
• Assist in maintaining complete study files for the investigational drug studies in the IDS.
• Assist in arranging for study participants to receive study medication per protocol, as inpatients and in the ambulatory setting.
• Utilize the system of Continuous Quality Improvement to measure the effectiveness of pharmaceutical care activities (e.g., Audits of records for accuracy, etc.).
• Counsel patients on medications for use at home.
• Participate in protocol development and exploratory projects which would directly contribute to improved patient care.
• Serve as a drug information resource for health care professionals, patients, and their families.
• Provide drug information and in-services to interdisciplinary staff.
• Provide instruction for undergraduate and graduate pharmacy students.
• Precept pharmacy students and pharmacy residents.
• Perform the duties of a Pharmacist 2.
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to UW Medical Center Standards.
• Adhere to UWMC Pharmacy Services and UW Medical Center policies and procedures.
• Perform related duties as required.
DESIRED:
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and study protocols.
• Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.
• Effectively uses computerization in the department, i.e. Cerner/PharmNet/PowerChart, EPIC Ambulatory, Micromedex, and E-lit searches.
• Knowledge of sterile compounding practices or the willingness to learn
• Customer service orientation.
• Ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated communication and organizational skills.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
