UWMC PHARMACY is looking for a TEMPORARY/HOURLY PHARMACIST INTERN. The Pharmacist Intern performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks in the inpatient or satellite pharmacies. Under general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist, the Pharmacist Intern independently performs a variety of technical pharmaceutical functions, such as compounding medications, filling medication orders, and preparing compounded sterile products.
Primary job responsibilities:
• Maintain repackaging records.
• Load drawers for the PYXIS and unit dose medication distribution system.
• Deliver medications, including transfer of medication drawers, to the nursing units or other areas of the hospital.
• Package medications into single-unit packages.
• Restock shelves in the pharmacy.
• Pull outdates off shelves.
• Maintain the stock levels of ward stock on the nursing units.
• Prepare pharmaceutical solutions for external use.
• Check stock for expiration dates.
• Maintain patient confidentiality according to UW Medical Center standards.
• Adhere to UWMC Pharmacy Services and UW Medical Center policies and procedures.
LEGAL REQUIREMENT: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist Intern with the Washington State Board of Pharmacy.
