Harborview Inpatient Pharmacy has an outstanding opportunity for a FULL-TIME PHARMACY TECHNICIAN 2 – CHEMO TECHNICIAN (Day Shifts). Under the general supervision of a registered Pharmacist, the Chemo Technician will perform certain routine and repetitive functions, including the preparation and packaging of medications and other Pharmacy-related functions. This position will act as a resource for the preparation of chemotherapeutic agents, and serves as a liaison for assigned nursing units or ambulatory clinics.
Responsibilities:
• Perform all duties of a Pharmacy Technician I
• Know and follow all IV room and chemotherapy preparation policies and procedures, including USP 800
• Safe and timely preparation and delivery of intravenous chemotherapy agents and other clinic administered meds
• Order supplies for use in chemotherapy preparation and delivery, in conjunction with purchasing staff
• Bulk packaging of hazardous drugs in accordance with policies and procedures
• Demonstrate attitudes and behaviors that should be held by clean room personnel
• File and deliver outpatient prescriptions for oncology clinic patients, or liaison to outpatient pharmacy for medication filling
• Independent management of chemo preparation area in pharmacy IV room, including maintaining it in a neat, orderly, and clean fashion
• Upkeep of patient chemo information sheets and chemo patient log book. Maintenance of chemo extravasation kits
Desired:
• Experience with hazardous drug handling and preparation preferred
• Good communication, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize duties
• High reliability and ability to function independently
