The UWMC Volunteer Services department has an outstanding opportunity for a PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Full-Time, Day Shifts.
The Volunteer Services Program Assistant is the first point of contact for patients and families at the UWMC Information Desk and for volunteers in the Volunteer Services office. This employee sets the tone for the public presence of the Volunteer Services Program and for the welcoming environment and overall operations of the lobby and Information Desk. This role provides detailed knowledge of the UW Medical Center offices, units, and locations in order to provide excellent directions to those served at the Information Desk.
This employee practices, and is the role model for, the UWMC Patients are First Initiative by demonstrating excellent customer service skills in compliance with the UWMC Service Culture Guidelines and AIDET Customer Service guideline. This employee must access, clarify, and apply a broad range of policies and procedures specific to both the Volunteer Program as well as UW Medical Center and must comply with HIPAA laws and practices. The Volunteer Services Program Assistant orients and supervises volunteers in the role of Lobby Ambassador (Information Desk/Lobby) and Escort Volunteer (escorting and transporting patients). The Program Assistant develops and implements office procedures which establish quality controls for office operations in compliance with hospital regulations. These systems must be utilized on a daily, monthly, and yearly basis to ensure the Volunteer Services office runs smoothly and efficiently while maintaining compliance at all times.
The person in this role compiles and organizes reports for the department while maintaining confidentiality and exercising critical judgment in order to independently assess and prioritize work, managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities.

• Exhibits professionalism and a welcoming demeanor.
• Demonstrated experience working with a diverse team of staff and/or volunteers.
• Proficient computer knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
• Ability to effectively use the internet and answer patient/visitor inquiries and access resources for patients/visitors.
• Knowledge of UWMC locations, offices, units. Knowledge of the UW Campus, U-District/Montlake area and Seattle.
• Experience working with, training and supervising volunteers.
• Desire to better the patient experience and promote volunteerism in UW Medical Center.
• Experience working in a Volgistics database and on Epic.
Conditions of Employment:
• Must be able to transport patients up to 250 lbs.
• Must be able to stand/sit for long periods of time.
• Must be able to walk to all destinations on the UW Medical Center campus.
• Must be able to work effectively with diverse populations.
• Some weekend and holiday coverage may be required.
This position reports directly to the Volunteer Services Program Manager and works closely with the Volunteer Services Program Coordinator.
