The University of Washington's Division of Medical Oncology's includes 300 faculty members located at the UW Medical Center, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, and the VA Puget Sound Health Care System. Over the past 25 years, members of the Division have developed the world's leading bone marrow transplant program. In addition, members of the Division have made substantial contributions to many other areas of cancer treatment, including the use of tumor vaccines, cellular therapy for cancer, antibody-based treatments, and novel forms of chemotherapy and hormonal therapy. Our Division is deeply committed to maintaining its position as one of the leading centers for research and treatment of cancer in the world.
The Division of Medical Oncology Central Administration has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Program Operations Specialist. This position works with staff and faculty to manage, administer, and assist with program operations of the Division of Oncology. This position is responsible for independently implementing and managing aspects of division staff and Academic HR coordination, space management, and other projects as assigned.
This position is required to use independent judgment, critical thinking, and expert knowledge of the academic clinical trial healthcare operations to effectively facilitate the workflow and support a robust division with significant clinical, academic, and research aspects. It is critical that this position be able to prioritize numerous concurrent tasks and manage both short term and long-term multi-step tasks. The position will maintain dynamic communication with the faculty, clinical team, research staff, numerous UW, SCCA, and FHCRC departments, federal agencies and industry partners.
This position reports to the Medical Oncology Division HR Manager. The Division has as its primary mission: to improve cancer care by moving discoveries made in the laboratory to a clinical setting and finding new and innovative ways to use existing therapies. Our vision is to be national leaders in oncology translational medicine.
The Division of Medical Oncology is primarily located in the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA), on the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center campus, but also has faculty located at University of Washington (UW) Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, SCCA at Evergreen Health, SCCA at Northwest Hospital, the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, and South Lake Union. This position interacts closely with multiple process partners, including SCCA, UW, and FHCRC clinical and administrative departments, and multiple regulatory committees.
The Program Operations Specialist is a key essential position that will maintain an awareness of, and familiarity with, any policies, procedures and/or regulatory requirements that impact the liability and responsibility of both the Division and the University. The position is crucial in working with Division staff and some faculty on career path requirements.
The mission statement of the University of Washington Medical Center states that the Medical Center serves as a research resource, providing an environment in which clinical research may be conducted. This position is essential to that mission. This position provides significant contributions to program operations, administrative management, and fiscal management for the Division of Medical Oncology.
The Program Operations Specialist will work with the faculty, clinical, and research teams to effectively facilitate workflow and promote a collaborative work environment. They will work closely with faculty, clinical, and research teams to provide staff and faculty HR Operations, space management, and other duties as assigned with program operations, business operations, and administrative operations.
