The Office of the Dean in the School of Public Health, has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Program Operations Specialist with joint responsibilities in Student Academic Services (SAS) and the Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (OEDI). SAS works to enhance the experience for students in the School by fostering a vibrant school community and providing the support and resources necessary for success. This mission is accomplished through co-curricular programming that complements student’s academics and facilitates their involvement in research and service. Serving as a central resource, SAS supplements and reinforces the work of the departments and the community of practitioners that is their student services staff. OEDI is focused on creating and maintaining a positive and inclusive climate in the School of Public Health, increasing diversity within the workforce and student body, and supporting efforts to advance equity in all aspects of SPH life.
Under the general direction of the Assistant Dean for Equity, Diversity & Inclusion and the Director of Student and Academic Services, the Program Specialist provides academic support, career and leadership development, and equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives and activities for SPH.
Responsibilities
Student and Academic Services:
Oversee the Academic Support Program (ASP):
•Propose new ASP strategies such as workshops, guided study groups, seminars or other
•Oversee assessment/data collection on tutor utilization and student course outcomes
•Develop and foster relationships with other campus resources that provide academic support and services to SPH students.
•Maintain a current list of tutors, and respond to tutor requests in a timely manner.
Oversee development of Career Services for SPH:
•Work with other SPH staff to design and implement career planning workshops and materials for students.
•Collaborate with UW CIC and SPH department student services staff on career advising.
•Lead efforts in collaboration with student, staff and faculty groups to promote the SPH Annual Open House.
•Develop or contribute to community building activities and celebrations that engage the whole School.
•Liaison to WSPHA for student professional development and network development;
Support student leadership and development
•Provide leadership and serve as administrative liaison to SPH student organizations (DACS, SPHA, SSOCAG) as well as WSPHA and other related groups.
•Promote student development by creating, facilitating and evaluating skill building workshops
•Support collaborative efforts and initiatives with departmental organizations
•Develop and evaluate a plan to market and promote student initiated functions
•Track and maintain roster of student leaders and volunteers for SPH-wide initiatives and committees

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience in student/career services or related field
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
