The Goodlad Institute for Educational Renewal is a research center located at UW Bothell.  The Institute is a collaboration of faculty and staff working together on federally and private funded grant projects.  Projects vary within the institute and are currently focused on STEM and Special Education Leadership activities.

The Goodland Institute at UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity for a part time 50%FTE, Project Director.  The position incumbent will focus on technology-enhanced, equity-focused research on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning and professional development. The person will generate external funding to support research, teach undergraduates and adults in professional development settings, oversee research plans and publish research findings. The person will manage research projects, interface with community partners (informal and formal education institutions, community organizations, etc.), and design-based research methodologies. The employee must have a focus on equity-focused research as applied to the design of STEAM-based learning environments.

Responsibilities:
•Lead and execute education research, including overseeing the development of the research plan, data collection, data processing, and data analysis.
•Coordinate and oversee partnerships with external partners.
•Supervise and mentor post-doctoral fellow and research scientist.
•Coordinate and oversee publications in peer-reviewed journals.
•Lead and oversee the development of conference proposals and presentation of findings at academic conferences.
•Oversee iterative processes of design, research, and re-design.
•Coordinate and facilitate interfacing with community partners.

Requirements:

•PhD Degree in Science Education, Learning Sciences or related field and 6 or more years of experience leading or managing projects and working with families and/or youth in learning settings.
•Must have experience collaborating with informal science institutions, including libraries and leading projects of scale.
•Must have experience working successfully with diverse communities.
•Must have experience conducting research in learning settings.
•Must demonstrate a commitment to issues of equity, STEM-linked identity formation, and culture in the design of STEM learning environments.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

Desired:
•Familiarity with issues around informal learning.
•Excellent writing and presentation skills, experience in qualitative/quantitative data collection/analysis activities.
•Ability to manage internal and external partnerships while conducting simultaneous projects and project activities.
•Familiarity with Dedoose and other qualitative data analysis tools.
