The University of Washington Center for Health Workforce Studies (UW CHWS) has an outstanding opportunity for a PROGRAM OPERATIONS SPECIAIST - PROJECT MANAGER to support its expanding research efforts in health services research on the nation’s health workforce. This position is housed in the UW Department of Family Medicine, which is recognized nationally and internationally for its excellent programs in clinical care, teaching, and research. The Project Manager will support the growing portfolio of research within UW CHWS. UW CHWS conducts multiple grants and contracts from local, state, and federal agencies and foundations. UW CHWS is also home to two large multi-year federally-funded cooperative agreement grants under the Health Workforce Research Center program at the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to conduct multiple health workforce research studies related to allied health and health equity. Topics within UW CHWS research portfolio include studies on the physician, nursing and allied health professions, healthcare career pathways, supply and demand of healthcare workers, and training and educating health professionals to improve health equity. UW CHWS aims to inform policymakers and workforce planners to strengthen the health workforce in the United States. UW CHWS work is often cited in the media and investigators are sought after speakers locally, nationally and internationally. UW CHWS works closely with other centers housed in the Department of Family Medicine including WWAMI Rural Health Research Center, Rural Primary care Research, Education and Practice (Rural PREP) Program, and Primary Care Innovation Lab (PCI-Lab). UW CHWS investigators also collaborate with colleagues across the 6 other HRSA-funded Health Workforce Research Centers
The Project Manager will work with a multi-disciplinary team of researchers with backgrounds in health economics, health services research, sociology, anthropology, and clinical practice, as well as state and national stakeholders including funders, educators, researchers, healthcare practitioners, policymakers and planners. As a key member of the UW CHWS team, which includes a leadership team, research scientists, program assistant and coordinator, and web computing specialist, the Project Manager’s key responsibilities will be project and budget management, grant oversight, project staff management, project strategy implementation, communication management (including social media), measurement and evaluation support, and project liaison. The Project Manager reports to the UW CHWS Director Bianca Frogner and supports the Senior Deputy Director Sue Skillman.

This position will supervise UW CHWS program assistant and provide oversight to coordinate the work of other staff and contractors as well.

Other conditions of employment. The position occasionally requires employee to work beyond a normal work week (e.g., more than 40 hours a week) and intermittently requires evening and weekend time to meet project deadlines and attend meetings. The position may require occasional travel to meetings and conferences.
