Provides support to nurses and the health care teams in the care of patients with behavioral issues including disruptive patients and their families.
Provides behavioral de-escalation support to ensure safety of staff, patients, and families.
Attends appropriate clinical meetings to serve as a resource for nursing staff and health care teams across the organization.
Provides patient and/or family with de-escalation education and strategies.
Participates as a key member of the interdisciplinary team through the development of collaborative and innovative practices and evaluation of patient care outcomes.
Evaluates quality outcomes for UWMC through participation in the development of quality indicators including compliance with restraint standards and practice.
For UW employees only. Position is 80%, days. Requires WA RN license. Master’s degree plus 4-5 years of nursing experience. Previous recent CNS experience. Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment. Effective communication skills, interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients/families experiencing difficulty coping with both acute and chronic health conditions and hospitalization.
