The Heart Institute at the University of Washington Medical Center has an exceptional opportunity for a full time Registered Nurse with our Advanced Heart Failure Disease Program. The UW Medicine Heart Institute nurses work day shift Monday through Friday, no weekends and no holiday shifts allowing for work life balance in the beautiful northwest community.
If you are a highly organized, creative, and dynamic nurse who can help deliver highly interactive care and education to patients and be a good advocate for our patients and their families, this is the position for you. We require an RN with exemplary communication and teaching skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
The RN will collaborate with our multi-disciplinary team consisting of cardiologists, surgeons, interventionalists, other sub-specialty nurses, advanced practice providers, social worker, and administrative staff to coordinate, support, and optimize the medical care of this complex patient population. In addition to clinic and phone triage, the RN is responsible for coordinating and managing medication titrations per provider orders (including home infusion of inotrope drips), central line dressing changes, and blood draw for labs. Our HF RN also monitors CardioMEMS HF System (remote PA monitoring) for optimum HF medical management for our patients to significantly reduce HF hospital admissions and improve their quality of life.
Two years of cardiology experience (inpatient or outpatient) and BLS/CPR certification required; BSN strongly preferred.
There are weekly team meetings, case conferences, cardiac grand rounds, journal clubs and other educational opportunities that the RN can attend to grow professionally. As a teaching hospital and research center, we're deeply committed to the enhancement of care for our patients-as well as the professional growth of our staff. As a testament to this commitment, we're proud to be recognized with Magnet Hospital status by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In fact, we were the first hospital to receive this designation. We're also consistently named one of the nation's best hospitals, as reported by U.S. News and World Report.
Such national recognition attests to our commitment to high-quality care, and to the outstanding professionalism and skill that exists at UWMC. As a registered nurse (RN), you can be a part of this highly skilled team, working within a culture that is both innovative and collaborative. Here, you will work in tandem with physicians and other health care practitioners to provide superior, award-winning nursing care. In short, you will not only follow best practice, you will create it!
