The Alvord Brain Tumor Center (ABTC) at University of Washington Medical Center opened its doors on December 29, 2015. The ABTC’s aim is to schedule tests, exams and consultations on a single day, allowing specialists to discuss treatment options with patients as soon as possible. Patients of the ABTC have access to a ‘care team’ made up of providers, nurse practitioners and nurses from multiple specialties including radiation oncology, neuro-oncology, neurosurgery, radiology and pathology for the management of brain tumor care. Our multidisciplinary team approach enables patients to learn about a range of treatment options during one clinic appointment. The Center is named for Buster Alvord, MD, the former head of UW Neuropathology Department, and his wife Nancy.
