Responsibilities:
Demonstrates knowledge and care of patients in the employee health setting, including care and use of specialty equipment.
Prioritizes patient care based on acuity, urgency of patient care needs, and availability of resources. Identifies and safely transfers employee to additional level of care as necessary.
Able to interpret employee immunization data in order to provide appropriate care including immunizations and follow up tests.
Able to formulate, coordinate and implement a plan of care based on department policies and protocols and professional and regulatory immunization standards.
Interacts professionally with employee staff to explain immunization requirements, protects confidentiality and creates a comfortable atmosphere.
Functions as a team member in all areas of employee health services with a broad knowledge of primary and urgent care principles. Assists team members with triaging employee questions, blood borne exposures, the respiratory protection program and work related illness and injury.
Receives information from the Infection Control Practitioner and notifies employees who have been involved in work related exposures to communicable illnesses, instructs them in follow up care directions and keeps accurate documentation.
Performs all aspects of care in an environment that optimizes patient safety, infection prevention and reduces the likelihood of nursing/healthcare errors.
Orients registered nurse and medical assistants to correct immunization administration procedures.
Organizes and participates in off site immunization clinics and strategies to maximize reaching employees to administer Tb test and flu vaccinations including all shifts.
Able to enter data correctly into Employee Health data base and other computer applications as required.
Utilizes information systems for data tracking reportable employee accident/injuries. Enters required employee injury information in to database.
Follows up post injury with employee as needed to clarify information about the injury, appropriate follow up care occurred as needed and that a PSN is recorded.
Communicates effectively and professionally with employees across the organization.
Performs other duties as assigned.
