JOB SUMMARY
This Staff Nurse is a licensed practitioner who uses the nursing process to provide patient care. This includes exercising independent nursing judgment in managing the care of patients with complex health problem(s) and collaborating with patient, family and other healthcare providers/disciplines in the admission and discharge process for patients undergoing any procedural based care within the hospital.

Collects, records, and analyzes pre procedure assessment data such as patient health data, diagnoses, physician orders, responses and problems, vital signs, imaging and lab results, etc.
Develops a plan of care including scheduling of patients and pre procedure admission criteria.
Monitors and evaluates the patient’s responses, documents interventions, evaluates progress, and revises the plan of care as necessary.
Provides safe, therapeutic, cost-effective procedural patient care.
Provides direct patient care to an assigned group of patients.
Demonstrates effective judgment, critical thinking, time management and work prioritization skills when providing care.
Administers medications, starts IVs, performs bedside tests, procedures, and treatments.
Patient Safety, includes but is not limited to:
Demonstrates knowledge and appropriate use of infection/exposure control plans, medication safety, safe lifting techniques, and personal protective equipment.
Minimizes patients’ safety risks by following defined protocols, policies and procedures (e.g., falls, pressure ulcers, restraints, medication errors, etc.)
Participates in achieving established Patient Safety Goals.
Responds and participates in emergency management (e.g., rapid response team, code blue, critical values, etc.) in the procedural areas.
Manages and maintains equipment in the patient care environment.
