The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $270M initiative to replace the University’s financial systems with an integrated system to manage the full suite of financial transactions and reporting needs in the UW system – to include academic, administrative, and healthcare. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW’s highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system projects in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University and the state.
The UW Finance Transformation Program has an excellent opportunity for a Report Developer.

This position will develop reports for Workday financials, a cloud-based ERP software system. Workday Reporting capabilities encompass defining reports requirements, developing reports, and re-configuring existing reports to accommodate business need. More specific responsibilities will include coordinating with other UWFT team members, partner organizations, as well as UW end users to analyze report needs, documenting requirements and report use case scenarios, and participating in testing/ validation of reporting functionality changes. In performing these duties, the incumbent will analyze business problems and processes to identify functional and non-functional solutions to financial reporting needs of the University.
As a member of the UWFT Reporting Development team, the Report Developer will serve as a subject matter expert within the Workday Reporting domain to ensure design, development, configuration/re-configuration, testing and launch of Reporting features are complete and functional, both independently and in coordination with all other dependent Workday features. Further, this role will require insight into business process and technical considerations and encompass cognizance of relevant campus needs of financial information and data utilization. This position will partner closely with the existing Workday Reporting team in the Integrated Service Center to ensure reporting needs are coordinated across the Workday platform.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workday Reports Module Configuration:
- Design, develop, configure/reconfigure, and test Workday reports, leveraging knowledge of business process and technical inter- dependencies, utilizing understanding of foundational design concepts, data conventions and workflow dependencies
- Evaluate and assimilate evolving Workday Reports functionality, remaining cognizant of complex system inter-dependencies and associated business process implications
- Analyze business problems and processes to identify solutions supporting the Reporting needs of the University
- Complete identification and implementation of Workday Reporting configuration changes
- Collaborate with team members to ensure functionality of reports are is implemented as planned, and new reports are completed to meet the business need
- Adhere to approach and methodology for facilitating reports configurations and software changes in an accurate, efficient and compliant manner
Business Systems Analysis:
- Requirements Gathering: Discover and research system requirements from users, customers and stakeholders including coordination with key partners such as the ISC, UW-IT and UW Medicine
- Documentation: Create and maintain functional team deliverables, including ensuring cross functional documentation consistency and facilitating deliverable review
- Analysis: Understand how business requirements can be configured in reports and convert functional design needs into report design documentation
- Data: Provide cross functional understanding of data, support in validation of new and revised reports
- Testing: Support the creation of test scenarios and the execution of testing
Knowledge Management, Training & Communication:
- Support training activities for business units and end users, including development and verification of relevant content
- Collaborate closely with Integrated Service Center teams to ensure coordination of information and relevant changes to existing reporting available; provide content that may be published regarding status of existing reports and changes to existing reports
REQUIREMENTS:
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
