The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, housed in the School of Public Health, has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Biostatistician/Research Consultant. This position will support an established research program's investigator team, which is engaged in longitudinal public health research on environmental exposures and child health outcomes. It will also support the program’s data center, which is responsible for management and analysis of an extensive established database of health data, air quality measurements, geographic variables, and air pollution exposure modeling outputs.
The Research Consultant will support the ECHO PATHWAYS investigator team, primarily on statistical analyses related to manuscript production. In addition, this person would support the ECHO PATHWAYS Data Center, which maintains a large database of extant and new data collection in a multi-site study. The person in this position will be expected to carry out high quality, accurate work in a multi-faceted research environment where command of quantitative details is essential. The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, and self-motivated with a desire to learn, good communication skills, and the ability to work and thrive in a diverse, multi-faceted academic research environment.
•Providing guidance on statistical analyses required for epidemiological investigations, including writing and reviewing data analysis plans, conducting analyses, reviewing analyses of other scientists, and interpreting results
•Developing new or enhanced statistical methods for epidemiological research
•Reviewing, summarizing and critiquing the research literature on new statistical methods-
•Contributing to manuscripts and other scientific products
•Developing, quality checking, and distributing complex data sets to be used in epidemiological and spatial analyses
•Attending and contributing in regular team meetings

The position requires a Master's of science degree in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field and a minimum of one professional experience conducting statistical analyses and interpreting results for scientific products (e.g., peer-reviewed manuscripts). Other requirements include a demonstrated facility with analytic tasks, proper application of statistical methods, a strong quantitative aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex analytic information
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Master’s of science degree and three years of experience in statistics, biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field and a minimum of one professional experience conducting statistical analyses and interpreting results for scientific products (e.g., peer-reviewed manuscripts) Experience conducting sophisticated statistical analyses. Five or more years of experience with R, SAS, SQL, and/or Python. Experience contributing to peer-reviewed manuscripts. An interest in public health research.
