The Department of Radiology currently has an outstanding opportunity for a RESEARCH COORDINATOR.
The Research Coordinator contributes to the growth & success of the Department of Radiology by executing the mission and vision. The purpose of this position is to promote the research objectives in the Department of Radiology. Working under the general direction of a Research Scientist, the research coordinator conducts clinical research projects in Radiology. This position designs approaches and hypotheses to be tested and the methodology to be used. Develops data collection methods and strategies for data management. Independently screens, recruits and enrolls human subjects. Writes and edits reports and manuscripts, and participates in data analysis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Protocol Development and Management: (50%)
Manage the development of forms and questionnaires for research studies; Oversee, Organize, and maintain computer and paper study records; Perform library and literature searches; Prepare human subjects applications, consent forms and progress reports for institutional review board; perform other related duties as assigned; Obtain pricing for study procedures; Assist in establishing and maintaining contact with departments and staff across multiple disciplines, including health care providers, clinic staff; Write progress reports, complete and submit IRB applications and renewals, radiation safety applications, and other regulatory documents; Collaborate with the principle investigator and other research team leaders to strategize and apply for new research grants. Participate in the design and development of the research plan; Independently identify and define research problems and develop strategy for solutions; Interact with all individuals involved in the study: research subjects, staff, faculty, and study members from other participating institutions, ensure continual study progress and objectives are successfully reached; Oversee regulatory files/binders and case report forms; Develop and maintain file organization structure for routine, daily study-related tasks and supervise research assistants/student assistants in maintaining these files;
Data Collection, Analysis and Reporting: (40%)
Prepare summary narrative reports, graphs, tables, charts and illustrations for faculty and staff research meetings; Assist in developing a computerized system for tracking study participants; monitor data quality control to ensure adherence to study protocol; Develop hypotheses and conclusions;
Patient Management: (10%)
Develop and maintain ongoing clinical research studies and serve as contact with study participants; explain purpose of research studies and protocols; answer participants' questions regarding study protocols, schedule research visits and procedures, notify appropriate personnel regarding problems or complications reported by subjects; Screen prospective participants to determine eligibility according to research protocol entrance criteria; conduct interviews (both in person and by telephone) according to established protocol; review and explain questionnaires and surveys with prospective subjects, obtain consent and monitor research subject participation; Archive and ship CT images according to protocol; Conduct medical record reviews; Independently responsible for screening potential research subjects, administering questionnaires, obtaining informed consent, and will handle case management of subjects.
Self/Team Development:
This position will work with clinical research involving human subjects within UW medicine and therefore clinical Research Study Coordinator (RSC) training is required. The training requirements for this position include general as well as UW medicine-specific training.
