The University of Washington Virology Research Clinic (VRC) conducts research on viral sexually transmitted infections and is a world-renowned leader in herpes research. Our mission is to investigate the epidemiology and natural history of herpes simplex virus (HSV), and to evaluate new therapies and vaccines for HSV. Currently, our special areas of interest are prevention of HSV transmission, HSV vaccines and the interactions between HSV and HIV. Recently, we have enlarged our scope to include clinical trials for other pathogens, such as CMV, HPV, BV, and women’s health. The Research Coordinator is an integral part of the VRC research team and works closely with investigators and clinicians to enroll and follow research subjects. The Research Coordinator will also work closely with the Manager of Program Operations in regulatory matters.
The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator.
Position Complexities and Impact:
This position will manage a portfolio of complex research studies working with a multi-disciplinary team of investigators. The individual will work with a team to develop clinic processes based upon study needs and support the UW primary research objectives. Additionally the Research Coordinator manages a complex portfolio of studies which includes grant funded and industry sponsored studies. Total budget of 2.5M annually
Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Coordination
- Develop clinic procedures/operations for specific studies
- Develop and manage operations process for specimen transfer to off-site laboratories
- Interpret and apply study protocols; providing administrative accountability for implementation.
- Develop forms (e.g. case report forms), questionnaires for collecting data
- Train other study staff in study procedures/operations

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
