The Superfund Research Program (SRP) and the UW Interdisciplinary Center for Exposures, Diseases, Genomics, and Environment (EDGE Center), are housed administratively in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences (DEOHS) within the School of Public Health. The Centers are seeking a full time Research Manager to provide leadership regarding operational and administrative functions, and contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives aligned with the funded mission and aims. The SRP has been funded largely without interruption for more than 30 years and is an interdisciplinary program involving faculty, postdoctoral scholars and graduate students from DEOHS, environmental engineering, UW genome sciences and UW Tacoma. The overall goals of the Superfund Center are to develop biological markers and understand the effects of environmental chemicals on neurological diseases in humans and wildlife, and to develop new technology to remediate contaminated Superfund sites. The Superfund center has strong community engagement locally as well as research translation components. The EDGE Center has been funded for over 20 years and focuses on understanding and communicating human susceptibility to environmental health risks. Its membership spans across multiple UW Departments and Schools/Colleges. Both SRP and EDGE (the Centers) involve not only fundamental research but also engagement with local communities affected by environmental health concerns.
