School of Social Work currently has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist 3
At Partners for Our Children (POC), this position is involved in the design, implementation and testing of a new interventions for child public welfare. Additionally, this position supports the dissemination and application of knowledge for use in practice, service delivery, and policy development.
Partners for Our Children provides an integrated and comprehensive approach to the continuous improvement of permanency, safety and wellbeing services to vulnerable children and families and to the optimal functioning of child welfare systems. Through its international research partnerships, POC serves as a bridge between the University of Washington and communities in Washington State, other states and countries to increase their capacity to apply science-based interventions to solve pressing social problems effecting vulnerable children and families. This position will support research and evaluation projects developing and assessing interventions with vulnerable children and families. This position will involve collaboration, research design, data collection and analysis, and contributing to dissemination of research and will provide an opportunity to design and implement evaluation strategies in support of continuous quality improvement efforts. This position supports the use of evidence informed intervention development with the goal of increasing the evidence base for effective interventions for the child welfare field.
Duties & Responsibilities
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in social sciences, research (equivalent experience may substitute for degree requirement)
Three or more years of relevant work experience.
Knowledge of program evaluation/research practices including design, piloting and randomized control trials.
Prior experience in designing, piloting, data collection, and analysis in research on social science interventions.
Experience in working with vulnerable children, youth and families, particularly those involved in the child welfare system.
A sound knowledge of child welfare research, particularly as related to parenting interventions.
Ability to multi-task and to think creatively to solve emerging problems.
Exemplary writing skills for journal articles, book chapters and grant applications.
Ability to communicate effectively and build partnerships with diverse stakeholder groups.
Knowledge of parenting interventions and the relevance and evidence base for them.
Ability to listen effectively to be able to take stakeholder feedback and make curricular adaptations based on this.
This position requires timely attention to detail and the ability to hold numerous tasks simultaneously.
Quantitative and qualitative data analysis skills, experience with the use of statistical software and creation and management of complex data tracking systems to address project needs and solve problems.
A diverse set of writing skills that would allow the person to translate complex ideas and knowledge to lay audience.

Experience with development of tools to assess parent-child interaction.
Ability to multi-task and to think creatively to solve emerging problems.
Experience with human subjects applications.
Experience developing and testing interventions with marginalized communities.
Exemplary writing skills for journal articles, book chapters and grant applications.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
