The Department of Pharmaceutics has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Scientist/Engineer 1 to join the Pharmacokinetics Laboratory (PK Lab). Under the supervision of the PI and Senior Research Scientist, this position will work both independently and collaboratively with fellow research personnel on the day-to-day operations of the laboratory. The research scientist will perform quantitative analyses of drug and drug-metabolite concentrations in biofluids (mainly plasma and urine) using liquid chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry and will routinely prepare calibration standards, tasks that require precision and accuracy in pipetting and attention to detail.

•Measurement of drug binding to plasma proteins-by rapid equilibrium dialysis or ultrafiltration;
•Kinetic studies with recombinant drug-metabolizing enzymes or tissue fractions;
•Data entry and processing of analytical data in spreadsheets;
•Keeping accurate records of lab procedures and findings;
•General lab maintenance;
•Assisting with laboratory operations including ordering, regulatory compliance, and other key support as needed;
•Attending meetings as required;
•Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
•BS in pharmaceutical, chemical or biological sciences and at least three years of experience in a chemistry-related job;
•Experience with quantitative analysis, preferably with liquid chromatography and or LC/MS;
•Strong analytical skills;
•Attention to detail and good organizational skills, including comfort working with electronic data;
•Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills;
•Good judgment and timely communications;
•Highly collaborative spirit and positive attitude.
•Effective written and oral communication skills.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
