The School of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a Research Scientist/Engineer 2.

Our lab is focused on understanding intratumoral heterogeneity in glioblastoma. We have shown in the past that cells within a tumor have dramatically different gene expression profiles. We use cutting edge techniques for single cell analysis such as single cell RNA-seq to interrogate tumor heterogeneity in primary patient samples that are harvested directly from the operating room. In parallel, we are trying to develop and characterize mouse and human culture models that recapitulate the heterogeneity seen in patient tumors in order to allow us to study how these processes affect treatment resistance and tumor evolution. These models include mouse xenografts, genetic mouse models, and human tissue culture models such as neurospheres and brain organoids.

This is for a position as a research assistant that will also function as a lab manager. Administrative duties include managing inventory as well as day to day functioning of the lab. This will be coupled with directed experimental work that may be focused on a specific project or in support of group efforts in the lab. Experimental work includes basic and complex techniques in molecular biology such as PCR, electrophoresis, cloning, next generation sequencing library preparation, flow cytometry, and tissue culture. Work with animal models (mice) is also expected to be a part of the overall lab effort.

• Bachelor's Degree in natural sciences (preferably biology, biochemistry, or chemistry)
• Two to three years of experience of molecular biology techniques such as RCR, electrophoresis, and cloning.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

• Experience with tissue culture, flow cytometry, next generation library preparation, and animal models (mice).
