This full-time research scientist will work with Eric Shea-Brown (Applied Mathematics) and Fred Rieke (Physiology and Biophysics) on a grant focused on how biophysical adaptation mechanism that permit the retina to adapt its computational function contribute to neural coding. These studies will help us to understand how the circuits of the brain, more generally, flexibly navigate their computational objectives. In elucidating part of the neural code that contributes to adaptable neural circuit function, this project will broadly benefit neuroscience and public health.
