POSITION PURPOSE
The Behavioral Ecophysics Lab in the Biology Department at the University of Washington is seeking a highly qualified Research Technologist 2 to provide technical support in laboratory (e.g. inventory, standard operating procedures, maintaining training logs) and field (e.g. capturing wild hummingbirds with mist nets and/or feeder traps) settings, oversee the husbandry of an animal care facility for hummingbirds, and contribute towards research activities related to on-going work in the lab and the field, under direct or general supervision of more senior personnel (e.g. PI, postdoc).
POSITION COMPLEXITIES AND IMPACT
The core responsibilities of this position include providing set up and tear down support to faculty, staff and students in the lab or field, performing lab maintenance, prepping and maintaining equipment or animals for research use, ordering supplies and equipment, and maintaining stock levels for the lab. Finally, an important aspect of support will be in the revision of hummingbird handling and banding permits, data collection and processing, writing of protocols, proposals, and papers.
