UWMC Respiratory Care Services has an outstanding opportunity for a part time temporary/hourly RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Respiratory Care Practitioners deliver the prescribed therapeutic and diagnostic procedures such as:
•Administering oxygen, including humidification and aerosolization
•Administering other medical gases such as Nitric Oxide and Heli-Ox
•Delivering aerosol medications and demonstrating full understanding of necessary equipment, precautions, interactions and dosing
•Providing Bronchopulmonary hygiene
•Assisting with bronchoscopies and intubations
•Assessing the patient's readiness for extubation
•Managing artificial airways
•Managing invasively and non-invasively ventilated patients with various modes of ventilation
•Responding to emergency codes and providing emergency care
•Making appropriate clinical decisions in emergency situations
•Transporting and ambulating patients on mechanical ventilators
•Obtaining arterial blood gas samples
•Educating the patient about disease processes and treatments
•Actively participating in multidisciplinary rounds
•Providing education to other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, nurses and students of various professions
Additionally, the Respiratory Care Practitioner adheres to compliance practices of:
•Documenting required information in the patient's electronic medical record, and communicating that information to the members of the healthcare team
•Processing, inspecting, and testing all equipment to insure proper functionality and notifying Biomed if repairs are needed
•Demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills to work productively with patients, families, staff and co-workers
•Accepting directives, maintaining confidentiality, avoiding discrimination, and upholding the ethical standards of the profession
•Protecting patients and employees by adhering to all safety precautions, UWMC and departmental policies and procedures
•Meeting departmental standards for quality and customer service
•Other related duties to position as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of a Respiratory Care program approved by the State of Washington Department of Health OR equivalent education/experience.
Legal Requirement:
Licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner by the State of Washington
Certifications: L-LR | RESPIRATORY CARE PRACTITIONER - WA State
