The Department of Biobehavioral Nursing and Health Systems has an outstanding opportunity for a part time ,80-100%FTE Research Coordinator. This position will serve as the research coordinator for the NIH grant titled 'Mindful Body Awareness Training as an Adjunct to Medication Assisted Treatment for Opioid Use Disorder.' This grant involves a multi-year intervention study at a rural community clinic. The research coordinator will be responsible for day-to-day operations, communication and oversight of study implementation. This position will work closely with the principal investigators who will provide the leadership and direction for this study and clinic leadership.
This research coordinator position will involve communication with various members of the research team and day-today oversight of study implementation at the clinical site. The research coordinator will supervise staff at the clinical site, and will be responsible for operations and administrative details involving the study investigators and staff at UW, and stakeholders at the clinical site associated with this study. This is a dynamic/changing position that requires someone who can work with multiple research team members, attend to details relating to the overall and specific study aspects of implementation, work independently, and take a leadership role.
This position is critical for the overall functioning of this study and for advancing our understanding of integrative therapies for opioid addiction treatment. The UW is a major hub for health research and, in addition, this study interfaces with 'state-of-the-art' regional programs for care of opioid disorder treatment. The work of this study and this position will positively impact the UW mission of implementing high quality research in this region.
The duties and responsibilities of this position include -
Operations Management:
• Updating and implementing procedures to ensure efficient management of day-to-day operations, and establishing logistics, needs, and resources. This person will set up and maintain filing systems, and implement tracking methods, timelines, and records related to management of study participants. This person will ensure recruitment is systemic and organized.
• Serving as Contact for the study and establishing effective communications with site managers, vendors, university personnel, and others affecting study operations.
• Working closely with the Principal Investigator to ensure site operations follow study protocols, sponsor expectations and oversight requirements.
• Establishing or implementing procedures in the event of adverse events, project deviations, changes in site logistics, etc.
• Establishing or refining data management processes, making needed changes or improvements, and ensuring data collection and management function correctly during the study.
• Making certain safety is a priority and establishing policies, procedures and monitoring to ensure it remains a priority.
Personnel Oversight:
• Participating in hiring of study personnel.
• Supervising study personnel in the performance of study duties, and establishing an effective orientation and training program to ensure protocols are understood and followed. This person will establish and foster teamwork and collaboration among personnel, and will keep the principal investigator, staff, and related personnel informed.
• Regularly assessing efficiency and quality of work, and taking steps as needed to ensure a highly functioning section.
• Together with other supervisors, ensuring staff from different teams work well together, share space appropriately, are knowledgeable of others' requirements and procedures, and problem solve effectively.
• Ensuring administrative requirements related to personnel management like timekeeping and documentation are adhered to. This person will provide staff information or training as needed to ensure administration meets university standards.
Evaluation and Dissemination:
• Creating reports, documents and spreadsheets related to study deliverables.
• Assisting with creating manuscripts and abstracts for presentations and dissemination of results.
This position may lead personnel not directly assigned to the study.
This position will supervise 1-3 staff and 1-3 hourly or student employees.

REQUIRED
Masters degree in healthcare field
• 2 years experience working on clinical trials or government funded projects.
• 2 years experience working in the area of research.
• 2 years experience working on projects implemented in community settings.
• Experience using technology such as REDCAP, EXCEL or similar software to manage data or project activities.
• Experience meeting compliance or quality control standards
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
DESIRED
Additional desired experience includes:
• Experience working on NIH grants.
• Experience working in institutions of higher education.
• Training in mental health care issues and services, including mindfulness-based approaches.
Work may involve occasional day travel to other rural locations.
