Harborview Medical Center has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time (30hrs/wk), day shift, SENIOR COMPUTER SPECIALIST through the Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress (HCSATS) program. HCSATS provides medical care and counseling services to sexual assault and trauma victims. HCSATS is a Community Sexual Assault Program and is a member of the King County Criminal Justice Center. The Senior Computer Specialist will perform complex system programming duties including developing, installing, modifying, and writing documentation for internal web-based database applications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs complex system programming duties including developing, installing, modifying, and writing documentation for internal web-based database applications. Detects and corrects operational problems, ensures system efficiency and integrity, and determines file design and data handling methods
Develops and modifies software to meet the needs, objectives, and specifications defined by others. Prepares test data; tests and debugs software systems. Provides technical assistance and support to users. Assists in system acquisitions, planning, and selection of software/hardware
Develop, implement and maintain complex user interfaces for routinely transferring data from clinical systems to decision support database. Performs complex system analysis and programming duties including analyzing, designing, installing, testing and maintaining a relational database management system to be used for HCSATS counseling and medical patient information tracking, community resource referral information, legal, research, grant and contract reporting and management information
Design data collection scheme for decision support database; maintain scheme as requited to accommodate changes in the data systems. Participate in the support, maintenance and administration of the database applications
Develop, implement and maintain routine administrative and quality improvement reports including data query and Ad Hoc reporting capabilities. Continuously re-write and update grant and contract SQL reporting as requirements change from the City, State and County funders
Provide technical assistance and support to HCSATS diverse user groups in the use of web-based application
Recommend policies and implement procedures for protecting the confidentiality of patient information in the decision support database
Provide database system documentation, system administration tools and clear and concise system user manuals
Perform related duties as required

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science AND two years of experience in web applications; SQL database administration, architecture and maintenance, OR equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience designing and maintaining relational databases in MySQL and SQL, including complex query writing and web-based use of databases, including working with table structure, stored procedures, functions and views
Experience programming in PHP and SQL
Web application development (PHP, HTML, XML, CSS)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills and ability to apply these skills to software-layer problems
