UW-IT has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Senior Cybersecurity Advisor.
The Senior Cybersecurity Advisor must be a highly experienced professional with strong subject matter expertise and skills to work effectively in a dynamic, demanding, and multifaceted environment. This person must possess a keen intellect and have a fundamental affinity for dealing with complex issues where many criteria matter to varying degrees to different constituencies.
This person will support the mission of the Office of the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) by supporting, advising, and advocating for risk-based cybersecurity management practices. This person will be part of a multi-disciplined team that works to: understand the cybersecurity risks associated with complex environments and information systems; effectively communicate those risks to both technical and non-technical audiences to add value and inform decision-making; researches cyber threats and provides relevant briefings; and creates tools to promote cybersecurity best practices. The person in this position will work cross-functionally with various business partners throughout the organization, collaborate with management on their respective teams, and foster relationships to help drive cybersecurity principles.
The person in this position will collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subject matter experts to design, plan, and implement cloud-based solutions. They will analyze data, business workflows, technical architecture, and controls to be able to provide architecture and design recommendations and work with stakeholders to develop strategies to manage cybersecurity risks.
This position works under the direction of the Director of Cybersecurity Advising.
REQUIREMENTS:
Cloud architecture including containers, multi-cloud, and serverless compute
Cloud security fundamentals
Common cloud infrastructure like AWS and Azure
Common cloud provisioning tools like Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible
Migrating applications to, or building natively, in a cloud environment
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
