All of which has allowed the UW to be nationally recognized as a “Great College to Work For” for five consecutive years.
The UW Finance Transformation Program (UWFT) is a $200M initiative to transform the University’s financial systems and processes, including academic, administrative, and healthcare. The IT scope of UWFT includes replacement of legacy core financial systems with a SaaS solution (Workday) and rationalization of distributed financial systems, reporting, and integrations across hundreds of units. UWFT will fundamentally change the processes and tools that the University employs to track, spend, collect, manage, and report University finances in excess of $7B in annual revenues, resulting in more timely and actionable information for leadership. Among the UW’s highest administrative priorities, this multi-year initiative is one of the largest finance system programs in Washington State and the outcome of the program will be highly visible at all levels of the University, the State, and nationally in higher education.
The University of Washington’s UWFT initiative has an outstanding opportunity for a Sr. Director of Systems Implementation.
The primary responsibility of this position is to lead the transformation that is necessary for ultimate adoption of the new UW Financial system (Workday). This requires the ability to understand and champion the UW’s business goals for finance and supply chain, lead and negotiate strategy across UWFT and its IT partners (primarily UW-Information Technology, UW Medicine IT Services, and UW Research), and lead execution of IT strategy for UWFT. This position will also be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the technical operations of the UWFT program team. This postion will lead cultural change for financial systems adoption, develop and coordinate technical transformation between IT units within the UW, and ensure that the UWFT IT Program is achieving key deliverables to support the UW's technical transformation.
This position will report to the Assistant Vice President within the UWFT Program, with close collaborative relationships with UW IT units. The successful candidate will seek to understand the business needs of the institution, influence change in behavior to ensure adoption of the new financial system, collaborate with stakeholders across the UW to develop architecture requirements, act as a solution architect to drive systems transformation, and ensure the appropriate solutions are implemented within the UWFT program.
This position will act as a mentor to other leaders within the UWFT program team, providing opportunities for ongoing growth and development. This position will be responsible for overseeing the development of a large program team, and will play a key role in positioning this team to drive substantive change for the UW enterprise.
