UW Medicine Strategic Marketing & Communications (SM&C) has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Marketing Manager.
The Senior Marketing Manager’s purpose is to achieve business goals by delivering engaging marketing communications to targeted audiences. The Senior Marketing Manager will partner with service line and entity clients to understand business goals and priorities to develop integrated marketing campaigns. The Senior Marketing Manager will oversee client management, campaign development, execution and reporting.
The Senior Marketing Manager plays an integral role in developing marketing strategy for assigned service lines and entities. The Senior Marketing Manager will oversee workteam meetings including several disciplines (creative, editorial, social media, UX, project management, etc.) within SM&C to develop and deploy creative assets included in a media buy, which support the goals and priorities of the strategic plan. The Marketing Manager will also collaborate with vendors such as media buyers and others which provide propensity modeling tools and deploy campaigns across various channels. The Marketing Manager is the single point-of-contact for service line and entity contacts.
This position requires a dedicated and curious thinker who takes pride on staying up-to-date on the latest marketing and technology trends, and who is always seeking new ways to innovate and evolve marketing opportunities for UW Medicine. The Senior Marketing Manager plays a pivotal role in positively impacting the public’s perception of UW Medicine and its service lines and entities via marketing efforts.
This role is a champion of collaboration and is accountable for developing strategic plans, including planning, implementation, optimizing for performance, and reviewing performance metrics and sharing recommendations for the future. Excellent communication skills are paramount in this role as the Senior Marketing Manager works closely with internal service line and entity clients as well as with the SM&C team and multiple vendors on several fast-paced projects.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Marketing Strategy: Conduct intake meetings with every service line or entity client, in which business priorities and goals based on operational data is shared. Write annual strategic plans that align client goals with the overall business goals of UW Medicine, leveraging propensity model data and industry research. Write messaging documents and creative briefs to be shared across SM&C and vendor teams, and to ensure consistent messaging at every patient/audience touchpoint. Consider any ad hoc projects or requests to ensure that they align with the strategic plan.
Marketing Research: Participate in regular and recurring industry research to stay informed of emerging marketing trends and opportunities. Seek new ideas that will work in the healthcare industry and that provide insight into marketing ROI. Sources include but are not limited to webinars, workshops, conferences, and certifications such as Google AdWords and Google Analytics. The Senior Marketing Manager will collaborate with our market research team to understand current trends in their niche and the needs and desires of consumers.
Relationship Management: Meet with clients on a regular basis to discuss any upcoming events, business needs, seasonal topics that impact the line of care or entity, changes to clinical faculty, and/or to review marketing performance. Current and planned internal resources include service line clients, market research, media relations, digital channels and creative.
Drive work teams and vendor management meetings to discuss all deliverables and projects – advertising, web content, social media, landing page engagement, campaign performance review, etc.
Current external agencies include media buying, digital design, direct marketing, and creative agencies.
Content Development: Creates content as directed including but not limited to articles, blog posts, emails, letters, presentations, etc.
Measurement & Analytics: Uses internal and external resources to understand the impact of marketing programs on the entire buying funnel down to incremental sales, revenue, and ROI. Contributes to building recommendations to adjust resources and goals based on quantitative understanding of impact and learning from campaigns.
Change Management: Identify and act upon opportunities to improve and expand marketing at UW Medicine. Involve and influence others in the accomplishment of worthwhile organizational goals. Challenge the status quo, champion change and influence others to change. Use business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgement in the solution of problems or pursuit of opportunities. Maintain flexible viewpoints and positions that can change as additional information becomes available.
Project Management: Work with dedicated project manager if applicable or independently manage project timelines, scope, objectives, resources, and budgets, and ensure that changes are being documented throughout the appropriate project workflow.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, advertising, or related discipline. A graduate degree in business or a related discipline is a plus.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
