This is an exciting time to join the Stroum Center for Jewish Studies (SCJS) in the Jackson School. Over the past few years, the Center has grown tremendously, gaining a national reputation as a model for expanding the impact of Jewish Studies on campus and in the community. Important new initiatives include the Sephardic Studies Program, several digital and new media projects, innovative public programming, expanded graduate student offerings, community learning fellowships, and an Israel Studies program. More than twenty faculty members from across the university affiliate with the Jewish Studies program and offer courses that reach over 700 students each year. Our courses and public programs explore the Jewish experience across time and around the world.

The SCJS has an outstanding opportunity for a Sephardic Studies Assistant Director. The Assistant Director is dedicated to managing communications, programming, budgeting, and advancement for the Sephardic Studies Program (SSP). This individual works with the SSP Chair to develop and implement a vision for the Sephardic Studies Program. The Assistant Director supervises Sephardic Studies staff, including the Sephardic Studies Research Coordinator, student workers, and other contractors of the Program. The Assistant Director also works closely with SCJS staff to implement Sephardic Studies and general SCJS goals. This individual is located in the Center and participates in SCJS staff meetings, and contributes to other shared SCJS staff duties as needed. The Assistant Director reports to the SCJS Associate Director and works closely with the SSP Chair.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Event Management
-Create and/or edit visually appealing electronic and print promotional materials, publications, articles (brochures, newsletters, online newsletters), and publicity for events, courses, and other program activities.
-Develop and manage promotion and publicity of events and activities, working independently to achieve SSP goals.
