Our Laboratory Medicine Department has an outstanding opportunity for a day shift, full-time (100%) Specimen Processing Supervisor. With delegated authority this individual will interview and recommend selection of applicants, conduct training, assign and schedule work, act upon leave requests, conduct annual performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary action. In addition, s(h)e will supervise and coordinate all of the functions of the Specimen Processing Services Area in a Clinical Medical Laboratory.
- Interviews, selects, and trains new employees; evaluates employee performance and plans additional/remedial training;
- Schedules and supervises the overall operation of a 7 day/week, 24 hour/day SPSA; maintains employee time cards and supervises detection and correction of errors;
- Coordinates activities between the SPSA and all other divisions of the Department of Laboratory Medicine involved in analysis of patient specimens;
- Authorizes addition or deletion of patient charges; maintains current information such as normal values, specimen requirements, and special specimen handling problems;
- Maintains appropriate inventories and establishes levels of all SPSA supplies; responsible for preventive maintenance on SPSA equipment;
- Performs related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Two years of college-level science in an applicable field AND one year of experience as a Specimen Processing Technician Lead;

High School graduation or GED Certification AND two years of clinical laboratory experience in a Clinical or Public Health Laboratory;
-OR-
equivalent education/experience.
