Employees in this position support the HFS summer conference operation by providing customer service and preparing and maintaining our facilities for guests. Tasks include setting up and cleaning overnight guest rooms, meeting rooms and dining rooms for conference delegates. Prior housekeeping or related work experience is desirable. Candidates must be able to follow directions and work effectively with other conference and custodial staff and must be capable of doing physically demanding work that requires repetitive bending and lifting. Although the summer conference program is geared to provide full-time work, staff work schedules can vary between 20 and 40 hours per workweek. Priority consideration for employment is given to students who are not enrolled for summer quarter classes. We do our best to ensure that each employee has two consecutive days off each week. Individuals with a high sensitivity to dust or allergies tend to experience problems with this type of work. Applicants must be available for training on May 30, 2019.

What Is the Summer Conference Program?
At the conclusion of spring quarter most of the residence halls are vacated for the summer. We offer the student rooms and facilities in these halls to visiting conference groups affiliated with the educational and professional development mission of the University. Conference groups find the University of Washington campus and facilities a convenient and affordable option for overnight accommodations, meetings and meals. The conferences we host range from business and professional organizations to sports camps, youth groups and a variety of foreign study groups visiting the country for the first time.
What Jobs Are Available?
Housekeepers earn $16.00 per hour. They are responsible for setting up and cleaning overnight guest rooms, meeting rooms and dining rooms for conference delegates. Please Note: Individuals with a high sensitivity to dust or allergies tend to experience problems with this type of work.
What Is the Employment Period?
Summer employment begins June 15, 2019, and continues through September 15, 2019. The nature of our conference activity is such that housekeeping staff are required to work a full schedule until all the residence halls are converted back to academic-year student housing prior to the start of autumn quarter.
Throughout the summer, your workload may vary depending upon the number and size of conference groups. However, it is important to recognize that it is difficult to plan for such contingencies in advance.
What Will Work Schedules Be Like?
Housekeepers
Housekeepers are typically scheduled to work 20 - 40 hours per week. Housekeepers work schedules will be developed to provide for an equal number of staff, 7 days a week.

What Kind of Training Is Involved?
A condensed basic orientation and training program has been developed for all Summer Conference Program student staff. The purpose of the training program is to provide staff with information regarding the program’s customer service standards, expectations, basic work assignments, etc.
